New Babies?

We had some plumbing trouble this week (all resolved now) which left us without a shower for about 24 hours. During that time, our landlord ("Uncle Ed") was kind enough to offer up the use of his while he was out. So, Besnik and I went down and, while I showered, he watched some TV in the living room and met a couple of stuffed animals. There was a monkey, a bear and a rather large lion.* Besnik had some trouble leaving these "new babies" downstairs when it was time for us to come home, but agreed that they would probably be scared if they were taken out without their Babi. So, we left them there.

Last night, we had to go back downstairs to feed Ed's cat and Besnik was very excited about seeing the babies again. He brought down Poncey, his little bear, to meet the guys. He put them all together on the floor and then went with me to feed the cat. I told him he could stay but he said "no!" as though it was silly to think of him staying. He did, however, lean down and whisper something into Poncey's ear before leaving. This all reminded me of when I leave Besnik in the playroom at the gym. We fed the cat, then went back down to the guys, who, Besnik informed me, were "still talking." We waited a couple minutes and then I said, "okay, Besnik, I think it's time to tell Poncey that we have to go upstairs" and he immediately went over, explained to Poncey why we had to get going, and had them all say goodbye.

And that is the story of the "new" babies...

* It should be noted that "Uncle Ed" often babysits the little boy who usually resides in our apartment, so it is not strange for him to have a collection of stuffed animals.
