An Update!

We skipped the 7 Month Developmental Update last week, so here it is...

Besnik continues to amaze us every single day. He has become much more talkative and social in the past month, and smiles all the time. He is still serious baby-man sometimes (mostly when we're out and about with new people) but, for the most part, he loves to laugh and play. Even on days when he is having tooth grumbles or wants to stick to me like glue, he still smiles and giggles alot. When visitors come over, he likes to get down on the floor to show them his standing; sometimes it takes a couple minutes of standing by me or Nick before he starts "walking" and giving said visitor flirty eyes. Speaking of flirty eyes -- he does the Tochka eyebrow movement thing ALL the time now. I often laugh out loud when I see this little man lift one eyebrow and look at me sideways.


One of his favorite games is called "boom, boom, boom," which consists of banging repeatedly on anything and everything in sight. We have toys to bang in the living room, at the table, by the little potty, in the bedroom, and in the minivan. He is VERY proud of himself whenever he makes the toys "BOOM". He gets to show off his skill in music class when Megan brings out the big drum and lets all the babies have a go at banging. He has also started "singing" during class which is very sweet. Yesterday, he sang throughout almost 15 minutes of the class. He especially likes it when some of his friends sing with him. His new favorite song is called "Donkey Riding" --during the "hey-ho" part, the babies get put up in the air and shaked a little (which he particularly likes...)

He is still not a fan of tummy time, prefering to be upright in sitting or (ideally) standing position. His new challenge, though, is reaching for toys that would have previously been out of reach -- this, apparently, often leads to crawling in babies who don't learn to push up from tummy time. Besnik has discovered that his hands can support some of his weight and gets pretty close to crawling position (sometimes one of the feet stays on the ground -- so there are two hands, one knee and one foot down) but then he doesn't know what to do next. He knows there is something there, though! He will sit for a long time just going up into that position, then back down to his bum, over and over. Sometimes he tries to move one of his hands forward and can usually regain his balance pretty quicky. Other times, of course, he ends up face first on the carpet. I have started placing my cell phone just out of reach because it is, naturally, more appealing than any of his other things!
