Giddy Up!
On our last day in London, we spent another hour at the park by the Kensington Palace Gardens. There is a huge Princess Diana playground there where we figured B might like to play for a bit. But then Besnik and Babi caught sight of this carousel and we all decided that it would be a more exciting way to spend a bit of time. As you can see, everyone involved enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The horse named Jay was chosen, obviously, in honor of Uncle Jason and proved to be an excellent ride. There was a moment when both Besnik and Nick looked shocked at how quickly the carousel accelerated, but they just held on a little tighter and everything was good. In the end, we watched another group of kids ride and then said goodbye.
When we returned to Tirana, the May edition of Wild Animal Baby was waiting for Besnik and it had a whole story about horses in which Marco (little urban dwelling boy who is a regular character in the books) plays with toy horses, sees real horses at the park that he wants to ride, but then settles on the carousel horse instead. Besnik went wild! He still takes the book out and tells us that he wants to go on the Carousel again. I've told him that he owes Mama a ride next time :) Also, he is working on the word "horse" though he still thinks it can be used for a variety of animals (including, but not limited to, donkeys, goats and giraffes).
